A learning community that empowers students to achieve their academic and life potential

ELEMENTARY

“At our elementary school, we ignite a love for learning, fostering curiosity and resilience in every child
as they grow into compassionate global citizens.”

Elementary School at Raffles American School offers a supportive environment where students build essential academic skills and a love for learning. The curriculum includes core subjects like language arts, math, science, and social studies, with a focus on critical thinking and creativity. Students also engage in enrichment activities such as art, music, and physical education. The aim is to help students develop confidence, independence, and a strong foundation for future academic success.

Language Arts
Language Arts program focuses on building essential reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Using a balanced literacy approach, students engage in activities that strengthen comprehension, communication, and critical thinking. Diverse instructional strategies ensure every student develops strong literacy skills, fostering confidence and academic success.
Mathematics
The mathematics program is guided by Common Core standards, focusing on both Practice Standards (problem-solving, reasoning, and modeling) and Content Standards (operations, fractions, geometry) and more. Learning experiences are designed to build conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. Students use manipulatives and visual representations to deepen their understanding of concepts. They are encouraged to explore multiple strategies for solving problems and to explain their thinking clearly, both in writing and through discussion.
Curriculum
Curriculum promotes students' overall well-being—physical, social, emotional, and mental—by fostering a positive attitude toward physical activity. We encourage active participation and help students develop intrinsic motivation for a healthy lifestyle. Students enjoy two physical education classes per week, focusing on health-related fitness, physical skills, and cognitive understanding to support lifelong wellness.
Technology
Raffles American School emphasizes the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. Technology is seamlessly integrated into the curriculum, enabling students to use digital tools to enhance learning, develop research skills, and create innovative projects. Our technology-rich environment equips students with the skills needed to thrive and succeed in a rapidly advancing digital society.
World Languages (WLG)
World Language program focuses on helping students communicate effectively in an additional language. Languages offered include Bahasa and Mandarin. Mandarin is taught at two levels: Language Acquisition and as a Mother Tongue language. Students enjoy two World Language classes per week with specialist teachers, fostering language skills and cultural understanding.
